Obituary for Viola "Vi" Orlando

Viola Elizabeth (DeMaria) Orlando passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. In honor of her life, a private service was held by her daughter to say "good-by" to her Mom.
"Vi" was born December 25, 1920 in Waco to Joe and Atti (Graco) DeMaria. She grew up on Clifton St. and attended Sacred Heart Academy.
In 1944, she met a soldier, Joseph L. Orlando, who became her loving husband for 67 years. They had a son David Lynn, who died in 1959 at age ten, and a daughter Linda who resides in Waco. Joe and Vi owned and operated a grocery store in East Waco for many years and were long time members of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Waco.
Dad and Mom were born a year apart and each lived to be 93 years old. Dad passed away 16 months ago in 2013. They will always be remembered for sharing Christmas Day Birthdays!
A homemaker with a stylish eye for fashion, Vi loved sewing, knitting and playing the organ and Joe always praised her cooking. Being part of the Greatest Generation, they enjoyed dancing to the music of the Big Bands and in later years, they were most often found, watching their favorite 1930-40's Classic Movies.
She is survived by a daughter Linda Orlando Littlewood and son-in-law Harry Littlewood and by some very thoughtful nieces and nephews.
Special gratitude to Uni Murphy for her unwavering devotion to both my parents.

A heartfelt ''Thank You" to the unrelenting, dedicated and loving staff
of Lake Shore Village Health Center. Much appreciation to the
supportive caregivers of Providence Hospice and to Susan's tender patience and respect in Mom's last days.

Dad and Mom share my history and it gives me great comfort to
think, they are with my brother David. May God Bless their souls
and may the perpetual light shine upon them as they Rest in Peace,
now and forever, Amen.

My folks loved animals and in lieu of the usual remembrances, my mom would be honored with any gesture to help the lives of sheltered animals.
