Obituary for Edna Wilhite Utz

Edna Wilhite Utz, 87, of Waco, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2007.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.

Edna was born November 9, 1920 in Guda in Falls County to Herman A. and Augusta E. (Jahns) Will.

On August 14, 1939, she married Alton Wilhite, who passed away December 29, 1999. She married Willie (Buddy) Utz on October 7, 2000. She was a devoted and caring homemaker who stayed very active with her family. She also operated her own seamstress business from her home. She was a longtime faithful member of Central Baptist Church, and still co-edited the church newsletter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Alton Wilhite; a grandson, Kevin Wilhite; brother, Edwin Will; and two sisters, Clara Perry and Elsie Carpenter.

She leaves her husband, Willie (Buddy) Utz; son, Thomas A. Wilhite and wife, Joyce of Eddy; daughter, Joyce Durham and husband, Donald of Cornith; four grandchildren, Raymond Durham of Colleyville, Donna Cavanaugh and husband, Kevin of Keller, Debbie Wall and husband, Kevin of Carrollton, and Keith Wilhite and wife, Laura of Eddy; and 12 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ross and Kerri Cavanaugh, Dylan and Macy Durham, Preston and Madison Wall, and Brett, Koby, Kailey, Braden, and Benjamin Wilhite.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Wilhite, Kevin Cavanaugh, Kevin Wall, Bill Bates, Robert Will, and Bill Hall.

The family gratefully thanks the MICU staff at Hillcrest Medical Center for their care.
