Obituary for Leonard Allen Gibson Jr.

Leonard A. Gibson, Jr., 66, of Waco passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016. Visitation will start 6 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home followed by a service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Peter Kriby officiating. The family will have a private interment at a later date.

Leonard was born November 14, 1949 in Fort Worth to LA and Sara (Green) Gibson. He graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in math and physics.

After Baylor he graduated from Christ for the Nations Institute. For many years he served as a substitute teacher for Waco ISD. Leonard was a minister at Mighty Wind Worship Center and he and his father were lay ministers in a Waco nursing home facility. He was currently attending New Covenant Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra E. Kay.

Survivors include Gwendolyn Kay Gibson, his wife of 27 years and their son, Matthew Gibson of Waco; step-daughters, Tammy Dennis and husband, Steven of Tyler and Kristi Natekar and husband, Aniruddha of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Ericka White, Mason Dennis, and Tracie and Jordan Norrell; great-granddaughter, Skylar Huval; nephews, Jay Chapman and Douglas Dorner; sisters-in law, Reba McLennan, Martha Sue (Susie) Brown, and Ethel Sweeten Loden; and numerous cousins.
