Juanita M. Rangel, 95, of Waco, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Friday, July 29, 2016 at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church, Rev. Ricardo Mejia, Rev. Gonzalo Ferrer, and Deacon Jessie C. Garza as Con-Celebrants, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Rangel was born in Waco, Texas on May 27, 1921 to Jesus and Manuela (Moreno) Mejia. She attended St. Francis Catholic School. Juanita was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a very good friend to all the people she met, always with a great smile and a kind word. Mrs. Rangel was baptized at St. Francis on the Brazos and a devout member her entire life. She joined and was very active with the Society of the Hijas de Maria and after marriage she joined the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe and was active for over 60 years.

She met and married the love of her life Jose A. (Chester) Rangel, and both were active in church as well as the activities of their two daughters. She was happiest when her family was together for holiday celebrations and always a special place at her table for the parish priest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, and 5 brothers.

Mrs. Rangel is survived by her daughters, Barbara Ridings and husband, Glen, of Waco, Texas and Patricia A. Lopez of Austin, Texas; grandsons, Jason Ridings and Joshua Ridings; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Matilde Mejia and Josephine Dean and husband, Larry; brother, Frank Mejia; sister-in-law, Lucy Mejia; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jon Dean, Mark Dean, Joshua Ridings, , Jason Ridings, Jesse Lopez and Andy Mejia.

Mrs. Rangel’s family expresses their most profound
appreciation for the loving and special care given by Estella Lizardo, Providence Hospice Place, the Johnny Amaro family and Lucy and Arturo Rivas.
