Obituary for Laura Elsie Radle Grisham

Laura Elsie (Radle) Grisham passed away peacefully in her home on August 08,2016. She was born in Waco, Texas on January 26,1924 to Charles Richard and Katherine (Bier) Radle. Laura was born in her parent's home at a time when doctors still made house calls.

She grew up wishing she could go fishing with her older brother and their father. As a young girl she loved to rollerskate. She attended Sanger Junior high, and she was on the honor roll at Waco High, serving as art editor for the school annual.

After graduating from Waco High, she worked for Dr Walter Kochman. She then worked for a number of years at Monnig's department store downtown. She worked in accounting, and later became manager of the gift department.

She married Coit Calloway Grisham, who had returned from distinguished service in WWII. They had one child, Charles Coit Grisham. Laura stayed home to take care of her small family and her ailing mother.

She became an avid bowler, going to tournaments around the state. She loved fishing and cooking fish. Her crowning achievement as an angler was landing an 8+ pound bass. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, and she loved working in her yard.

Her husband preceded her in death by 28 years, her brother by 29 years, and her sister by 32 years. Her son lived in Dallas and then other locations, but Laura wanted to stay at her home in Waco. The family is greatly appreciative of many neighbors who helped her in her later years - there are too many to mention. Also of great help were numerous members of Charles Grisham's wife's family (Ross). She had lasting friendships with many relatives on the Radle side, especially her beloved cousin Katie Neumann.

Laura would also want to acknowledge Waco Friends for Life, as well as Providence Home Health Care, Visiting Angels, Rosinal Huges caregiving group, and Providence Hospice.

Laura is survived by her son Charles and his wife Linda; their sons Andrew and Curtis; Curtis' wife Candice and great granddaughter Abby.
