Obituary for Joe E. Ingram

Joe E.  Ingram
Joe E. Ingram, 81, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left his earthly home on Monday, August 15, to be with his Lord and Savior after a 10-year struggle with Alzeheimer's. His life will be celebrated at 11 a.m, Thursday, Aug. 18, at Western Heights Baptist Church, 6300 Bosque Boulevard. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4570 Bosque Blvd.

Joe was born December 15, 1934 in Bruceville to Cullen Ingram and Annie Pearl (Cook) Ingram. He began his education in Bruceville, transferring to McGregor in the third grade. He lettered in all sports, excelling in baseball. During the summers, he played semipro ball in Texas and New Mexico. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1953.

Joe continued his education at John Tarleton College in Stephenville transferring to Baylor in 1955. He pitched for both Tarleton and Baylor.

In 1955, he married the love of his life, Joann Clemons. In 1957, he graduated from Baylor University with a BS in health and PE. He accepted a teacher and coach position at Eastland ISD. In 1962, he accepted a position at Wharton ISD. Joe received his M.S. in Biology from Texas Tech University. In 1971, he accepted a microbiology position at McLennan Community College. He retired in 1995 from MCC. Each community had a special place in his heart.

Joe completed postgraduate coursework from Hardin Simmons, Baylor, Texas A & M, East Texas State, and University of Houston. Joe and Joann were blessed with four beautiful children.

The family was active in Baptist churches in each community, and Joe enjoyed teaching fifth grade students, youth, and men's adult classes. It was in Eastland that Joe became an ordained deacon.

Joe searched estate sales for classic fountain pens, knives, and civil war items. He metal detected from coast to coast.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Ingram; and brother, Bill Ingram.

Joe is survived by his wife, Joann, of 61 years; daughter, Laurie Clark and husband, Steve, of Midland; daughter, Stephanie Yates, of Orange, CA.; son, Tim Ingram of Hewitt; brother, John Ingram and wife, Nancy of Cedar Park; sister-in-law, Beverly Ingram of Rowlett; grandchildren, Lindsay Beltran and husband, Isaac, Jennifer Wiseheart and husband, Wesley, Kelly Shannon and wife, Leah, Charlotte Clark, Wilson Clark, Emily, Rachel, and Hannah Yates, and Trenton and Bailey Ingram; and five great-grandchildren.
