Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at OakCrest Funeral Home with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2016, with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Porfiria was born December 22, 1923 in Donie, TX to Hilario and Maria Losoya Vasquez. One of ten children in the Vasquez household, she was the last surviving child born to the couple. She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Contreras, her parents, all of her siblings, and great grandson Jerry Wayne Mchalland.
Porfiria, whose faith in God was most important in her life, was a prayer warrior who held her family in the highest regard keeping them her number one priority while here on earth. She exemplified the true meaning of “it is more blessed to give than to receive” by making it second nature.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Gonzalez and husband Anibal, Sr.; sons, Jesse Vasquez, Carlos and Louis Ray Contreras; grandchildren, Joe and Janice Rodriquez, Angela and Federico Olvera, Hope Rodriquez, Anibal, Jr. and Katie Gonzalez, Adriel Gonzalez, Jesse, Jr. and Sonya Vasquez, Nicholas Vasquez, Gabby and Julie; great grandchildren, Federico Jr., Jessica, Theresa, Jonathan and Jordan, Alberto Jr., Nevaeh, Nathan, Zoey, Miraya, Sebastian, Cameron, Marlee Jade, Brianna, Gabby, Livi, and Gevin, Jr.; three great- great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and God-daughter Lucy Lugo. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank everyone from Providence Hospice who cared for Porfiria in her last days.
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, For you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” Ps. 4:8
