Arthur E, Kackley III, 77, of Waco, was born December 12, 1938 in Tyler, Texas to Arthur E. Kackley, Jr. and Jane Timberlake Kackley. He passed from this life November 12, 2016. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Freedman and the Rev. Sam Shreffler of the Bethel Methodist Church of Robinson officiating. A private burial service will follow at Oakwood Cementary.

Arthur grew up in Texarkana and graduated from Texarkana Texas High School and attended Texarkana College. Arthur served in the U. S. Army under the six month active duty reserve program. On August 5th, 1961 he married Vivian Westerman. They recently celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage.

Arthur served as a member of the Robinson ISD Board of Trustees for six years, serving as president during the 1978-79 and 1980-81 school years. He also served as president of the Robinson Band Boosters during the 1980-81 school year. He served the City of Robinson as Mayor for two terms beginning in 1984.

Arthur was a long time member of the Waco Civitan Club and during his term as President he was honored with Civitan International's Distinguished President's award and the Texas District Outstanding Club President's award.

He was proud to have been a founding member of the Bethel Methodist Church of Robinson and was a faithful member until his death. He greatly cherished his church and his church family. They have truly been the hands and feet of Jesus to him and Vivian during his illness. Arthur lived out his faith by serving others. He loved serving his friends. He enjoyed being a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels for many years.

Arthur was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife, Vivian Kackley of Waco, his daughter, Dr. Leigh Kackley Smith and husband, Jerry of Lubbock, his son, Kelley Kackley and wife, Angela of Dallas, and his son, Mark Kackley of Abilene. He is also survived by his brother, Lee Kackley and wife, Marlena of Dallas. Other survivors include his granddaughter's, Emma and Ellie Kackley of Dallas, his brother-in-law, Sonny Westerman and wife, Judy of Redwater, Texas, his sister-in-law, Margaret Snook and husband, Michael of Oklahoma City, and several nieces and nephews. Arthur loved his family and was so proud of them. His granddaughter's were the apple of his eye and his face would light up like a Christmas tree just talking about them.

Pallbearers will be his long time friends Ralph Bowler, Ed Dyer, Bill Blahuta, Lowel Elliott, Bob Bain, and Randy Cox along with honorary pallbearers Bill Tweedy, Wade Fowler, Beade Northcut, Quentin Haug, Gary Robken, and Albert Hampel.

Memorial donations may be made to the Family Association for the Abilene State Supported Living Center, P. O. Box 494, Abilene. Texas 79604. Arthur also wanted to request that those reading this obituary consider becoming an organ donor.
