Obituary for Jean Samaniego

Jean Samaniego, 82, of Waco, Texas passed away Friday November 25 surrounded by her loving family. Chapel service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Mrs. Samaniego was born in Coryell City, Texas, June 22, 1934 to Marshall and Cecil (Graves) Woodlock.
She attended local schools and became a nurse’s aide, working for many years at Providence Hospital. She married Delfino (Sam) Samaniego on June 10, 1952 in Waco. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and is remembered by her family as always willing to help. Jean was also a wonderful cook, and is remembered for her chicken and mole, chicken and dressing, banana and bread puddings as well as her pecan pies.

Mrs. Samaniego was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, sister Helen Woodlock and brother, Marshall L. Woodlock.

She is survived by her loving family, sons, Del Samaniego, Jr., Dave Samaniego of Waco; daughters, Linda Bates and husband David of Humble, Frances Gerick and husband Robert, of Riesel, Eva McDonald of Waco, and Lillie Garner and husband James of Midland; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Lucy McMains.
