William H. (Bill) Melton, Sr., 90, of Waco, slipped the surly bonds of this earth on Sunday, February 19, 2017 and began his next great adventure with certain knowledge that his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will lead him home.

A lifelong Texan, Bill was born Nov. 27, 1926 in Waco, but moved frequently, having lived in Cuero, Fort Worth, Nacogdoches, and Alpine. He graduated from Alpine HS, then served in the Army Air Corps from 1945 until the end of the war. After earning a Business degree from UT Austin, he moved to Dallas and served as the VP for Melton Book Company for over 40 years.

Married to the former Marianne Glenn in 1965, they raised two children, Bill Jr., and Melanie. He and Marianne returned to Waco in 2002, and were members of Central Presbyterian Church in Woodway. He had a passion for WW II military aircraft, and deeply loved his children and grandchildren, but most especially his wife of 51 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, James Melton.

He is survived by his wife, Marianne; son, Bill Jr. and wife, Angela; daughter, Melanie Melton; brother, Morris; sister, Carolyn Fitz-Gerald; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, and Hannah.

Bill was loved dearly by his family, and will be sorely missed.
