Obituary for Dorothy Pauline Calderon

Dorothy (Dottie) Burt Calderon, 86 of Waco, Texas passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Kirk officiating. With burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017, with Rev. Arthur Mozon leading the prayer service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Calderon was born in Oglesby, Texas March 22, 1931 to Otha William and Mayme Velma (Gaston) Burt. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Dottie loved to bowl, and bowled on Thursday evenings in the mixed bowling league and on Friday morning in the ladies bowling league. Each evening from 6:30 -7:00 p.m. Dottie watched her favorite T.V. program “Wheel of Fortune” and was not to be disturbed. Dottie enjoyed good old fashion country music and dancing. If you had the experience, years ago to dine at the Black Angus Steak House, you’d remember Dottie as being the best waitress, where she was employed for many years.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Jewell Doty and Grace Burt; brothers, Billy Eugene Burt and Kermit Burt, and the father of her children, Edward Calderon, Sr.
She is survived by her loving family; daughters, Nelda Zilem and husband Michael of Waco, Texas, Debra Miles, and husband Michael of Terrell, Texas, Rose Brown of Hewitt, Texas, Brenda Hill and husband David of Lorena, Texas, Edward Calderon, Jr., and wife Jennifer of Waco, Texas, and Misty Brown of Hewitt, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, and brother, Emmuel Burt, as well as many nieces and nephews.
