Obituary for Sondra Harper

Sondra Harper
Sondra Joy Raborn Harper passed away peacefully at her home with her children around her. Services will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home on Friday, June 30 at 1:30 pm with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, June 29 from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.

Sondra was the daughter of the late Paul Murphy & Mary E. Raborn of Woodway. She was married to Wm. Ray Harper for 56 years. Ray preceded her in death in 2014.

Sondra graduated from Waco High School. She had a lifelong career of being a full time wife, mother, grand and great grandmother. She loved and served the Lord her entire life. She attended Hewitt Community Church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years at First Assembly of God, Waco.

She was a wonderful and caring matriarch of her family. She loved nothing more than family and friends gathering at the family’s “Ranch” for cook-outs, parties and game nights. Sondra was a true real friend to many. She was a member of the “Ladies that Lunch” club. Her ministry was serving her family and friends. When someone needed just to talk or someone to pray with them, she was who they called.

Her greatest joys were her children and grand children. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and her family. She would often say that she was most proud that her entire family were serving the Lord.

She leaves behind a son Wm. Craig Harper and wife Paula of Frisco Tx., daughter Robin G. Daniel and husband Kevin of Fort Worth, Grandson Stephen M. Harper and wife Kelsey, great grandson Wm. Russell and soon to be born Murphy Thomas of Denton, Granddaughter Jennifer G. Butenschoen and husband Dean, great granddaughters Adalee Gail and Joslyn Grace of Aubrey Tx., brother Paul M. Raborn of Robinson and many precious cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers for their care these past months. Thank you to Prairie Estates skilled nursing and Elysian Hospice in Frisco & to Visiting Angel’s of Waco and especially to Joyce, Trina and Donna for their loving care at the end.
