Obituary for Louise White

Frances Louise Walter Melton White passed away peacefully, Monday, June 27, 2017, in McGregor, Texas at Westview Manor. Services will be held Saturday, July 1 at 12 noon at OakCrest Funeral Home with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 30 from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.

Louise, or Shorty, as she was affectionately known, was born June 1, 1927, near Moody, Texas to James Frederick Walter and Ollie Mitchell Walter. She grew up on a farm in Spring Valley, just outside of Waco, Texas with her brothers and sisters.

Louise graduated from McGregor High School. Soon after, she married George (Buster) Raymond Melton, on September 28, 1945 and moved to Waco. After Buster passed away in 1983, she found love again with Euel E. White and they were married on January 26, 1985.

Louise retired from Central National Bank after many years of service there. She enjoyed camping trips with her family and friends and would travel all over the United States. They would always take their dogs, first Snowy and then Misty, everywhere they went. She loved the classic country singers and would always talk about her trips to the Grand Ole Opry. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed being with her grandchildren as much as possible. Family reunions and special occasions were always a big part of her life as was her beloved NASCAR races and watching sports on TV.

Louise is survived by her brother, Billy Joe Walter of McGregor; sisters, Mary Lois Leard and husband, Tom of Mesquite, Tx and Virginia Dean Mudge and husband, David of Whitney, TX; daughters in law, Wanda Melton-Barnhart and Melanie Melton of Waco; grandchildren, Jessica Renee Melton Robinson and husband, Andy, Kelly Christine Melton, Nathan Travis Melton; great-grandchildren, Tabitha Louise Pettit, Andrew Denver Robinson, Georgia LaRue Robinson, all from the Waco/McGregor area; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Louise was preceded in death by her son, James Ray Melton; daughter, Georga Lou Melton; grandchild, Julia Marie Melton; siblings, Jimma Lee Ruff, Louie Lavon Walter, Cecil Robert Walter, Arvis Elbert Walter; and her two dogs, Snowy and Misty.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Westview Manor in McGregor, TX, for their loving care of Louise as well as the staff at Providence Hospice. They were all so nice and attentive to her needs.
