Donia Rochelle Mercer (Osment)
Donia Rochelle Osment Mercer joined her beloved husband, Marvin, in eternal peace on July 5, 2017. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 9th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at OakCrest Funeral Home. Services will be held on Monday, June 10th at 2:00pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott, Texas.

Rochelle was born on December 30, 1937 to Harvey W. Osment and Aldonia (Chappell) Osment at their home in McGregor, Texas. She grew up in Lott, Texas and was the eldest of five children.

Rochelle was in the graduating class of 1956 from Lott High School where she played trumpet in band, and participated in volleyball, tennis and softball. She met her future husband, Marvin, at the age of five when the Mercer family moved across the street from the Osment home. They were married on August 25, 1956 and were blessed with three daughters, Linda, Nancy, and Vicki.

Rochelle’s chosen career was that of a homemaker who devoted her time to raising the girls. She was a Room Mother for each class during elementary school, and was also a Camp Fire Girl leader.

Rochelle was awarded PTA Life Membership in appreciation of her years of service in the schools. She chaperoned the high school band trips each year, and braved the bus trips full of teenaged children. She was an accomplished seamstress, baker, musician, and singer.

After the children were raised Rochelle became a licensed Securities and Insurance Agent, and joined Marvin in the workforce until retirement. She was devoted to her family and her care of Marvin. They enjoyed traveling the world together and later vacationing with their grandchildren. They fondly reminisced about their many adventures when they were no longer able to travel.

Rochelle was a member of First United Methodist Church, Waco. She loved and enjoyed the Christian fellowship. She was an active member of the Chancel Choir, a Stephen Minister, The Chapel Sunday School Class, and also delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Aldonia Osment, brother Buddy Osment, son-in-law Stephen Hazelrigg and devoted husband of 58 years, Marvin Mercer.
