Obituary for Pablo Guajardo

Pablo Guajardo
Pablo Alonzo Guajardo, 98, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Pablo was born on June 29, 1919 in Rockdale, TX. He attended Waco schools then proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. On April 13, 1952 he married the love of his life, Menejilda H. Vela. They had six sons and three daughters. He was a hardworking man who worked numerous jobs at one time to provide for his family. At times he would even walk to work. He specialized in upholstery. He loved working with his hands. Pablo was an accomplished handyman from household tasks to automobiles. If it could be fixed, he would fix it. His motto was “where there’s a will, there’s a way”. He loved singing to and with his family. He was always the life of the party and was a comedian who could make you laugh with one of life’s anecdotes. Pablo was also a soft spoken man who enjoyed the company of his family from his children to his great-great grandchildren up until the very end. He will be greatly missed.

Pablo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Menejilda Vela Guajardo; and a son, San Juan "Pancho" Guajardo.

He is survived by his sons, John Vela, Jesse Vela Guajardo (Mary Lou), Benicio Vela Guajardo (Sabrina), Paul Vela Guajardo, Jr. (Sofia), and Salome Vela Guajardo; daughters, Carmen Vela Guerra (Tony), Mary Ann Synakowski (Marty), and Martha Guajardo; brother, Inocencio Guajardo; sisters, Antonia G. Orozco, Blaza Terronez, Gloria Guajardo, Susie Guajardo, and Juanita Longoria; beloved family members, Modesta Segovia and Lucia Guajardo; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Guajardo, Jr., Jerry Gonzalez, P.J. Guajardo, Jon Eric Guajardo, Mitch A. Guerra, Michael Guajardo, Matthew Macias, Joseph Synakowski, Marq Macias, Jordon Salinas, Jaden Guajardo, and Xavier Macias.
