Known for his sense of humor, positive attitude, service to his country during World War II and faith in our Lord, Franklin “Frankie Boy” Farnsworth, 93, of Hewitt, reunited with his beloved wife, Margie Freeman, early Saturday morning, September 23, 2017. Now together for eternity, they are dancing and enjoying her family-famous meals. Margie and Frank met as pen pals when his mother, with whom Margie worked, asked her to write to him while he was away at war. Frank endured thirteen months as a prisoner of war at Stalag 17-B, a concentration camp near Krems, Austria. Within weeks of returning to the United States, Frank and Margie married and started their life together. In those newlywed days, Frank attended Baylor University and has proudly supported all his Baylor Bears sports endeavors, especially football. Frank was a successful salesman, a job in which he took great pride, and served a total of four years in what was the Army Air Corps, an aviation division of the United States Army formed 1926-1941.

Frank truly knew what it meant to live life to its fullest and enjoy every moment as he delighted in smoking for eighty years, still ate his favorite sweets in spite of diabetes (sugar-free of course), lived on his own until his death, engaged with all of his great-grandchildren, and watched his St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos upon his retirement. Like many of his generation, Frank was dealt much struggle and strife, but, with his infectious positive spirit, he managed to persevere and hold firmly to the words of his favorite hymn, Amazing Grace. We hold steadfast knowing that for daddy, grandpa, great pa …“(His) chains are gone, (He’s) been set free, His God, (and) Savior has ransomed (him), and like a flood, His mercy rains, Unending love, Amazing grace.”

Frank is carried in the hearts of his son Floyd Farnsworth and his wife, Joyce; his daughter Susan Nix and her husband James; his daughter Debbie Lundgren and her husband Steve. He will continue to keep a smile on the faces of his grandchildren Chanda Pearson, her husband Greg and their children Makenna, Aisley, and Isaiah; Andy Farnsworth and his children Allison and Adam; Matt Howell, his wife Natascha and their children Sophia, Samuel, Francisco and Isaac; Heather Cain, her husband Adam and their daughter Marley; Alex Nix Vaughan, her husband Robert and their daughters Madrid and Margie; Nick Lundgren, who currently continues the military tradition by serving in the United States Coast Guard, his wife Shana; Tate Lundgren.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Hillcrest Surgical ICU and Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospice for their respect, patience and support during his final days.
