Jaime Botero Salazar, 86, of Woodway, Texas passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 am Saturday October 28, 2017, at St. Jerome Catholic Church wilh Rev. Rakshaganathan Selvaraj as Celebrant. Inurnment will be at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham, Houston, Texas, at 9:00 am on November 18, 2017 .
Jaime Botero Salazar was born February 12, 1931 to Eustaquio and Esther Botero in Palestina, Colombia and joined his lifelong love Gina in heaven on October 6, 2017. Jaime grew up in the coffee region of Colombia and was the oldest son of five children. As a young man he enjoyed horses and farming.
He graduated from the University of Michigan, and while there met the love of his life, Gina Rovedo. They were married July 18, 1956 and were blessed with four daughters; Cecilia, Monica, Claudia and Aura. Jaime would work for Exxon for over thirty years in Colombia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Miami and Houston. In retirement he would return to Colombia to manage the family coffee farm. Café La Mesa, would become one of the largest and most progressive coffee producers in Colombia.
Jaime loved new technology, operas, and being with his grandchildren. He took great pleasure in hosting many family, friends, and visitors at Hacienda La Mesa.
He is preceded in death by his true love and wife of almost sixty years, Gina, his grandson Alex Lowry and great granddaughter Eliza Abbott, are also with them in heaven.
Jaime is survived by siblings; Gustavo Botero, and sister, Esther Botero, daughters; Cecilia and husband Steve, Monica and husband Jeff, Claudia and Aura; nephew, Elias and wife Norma; his grandchildren are Vanessa, Gabriela, Daniella and Jacob; and his great grandson, Logan. Other family members include many cherished and loved nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
