Bom-Wrapper

The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William (Bill) Hillis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Terry and Kim Johnston

Kim and I were privileged to know another side of Bill and Argye--we were blessed to be their neighbors and tenants for the years I attended Truett Seminary. For several years after his mother died, Dr. Hillis would rent out her house for a ridiculously low lease for Truett students, particularly those with families. Many times I would take the rent down to him, and we would sit, enjoy a cold drink, and talk about how we Baptists were always able to mess things up! We worked on several projects together on the house, including replacing the garage door opener after the raccoon incidents of 2009-10. I knew Dr. Hillis was an accomplished professor, administrator, and clinical physician, but I knew him better as my friend. I am sad to hear of his passing.
