Janet Cameron Vaughan, 66, of Waco passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at her residence. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 4, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor David Medley officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 3, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Janet was born September 25, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee to Janice Danforth Cameron and Curtis Simmons Cameron. Her family moved to Waco in 1956 from New Orleans, Louisiana. Janet was a tenacious business woman and worked for over thirty years in residential mortgage lending. She excelled in assisting deserving individuals in obtaining their dream of home ownership. She was also eager to advise and counsel those “not ready” to buy, through guidance of what steps to take to be able to qualify in the future. Wherever Janet went she was always ready and eager to talk mortgage lending. Janet’s long and distinguished career ended on March 31, 2012 when she retired, after over 15 years from Cornerstone Mortgage Company as a Senior Vice President and Branch Manager. She was one of Cornerstone’s top producers and was feted by the company to a wonderful retirement reception at the Waco Board of Realtors office.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, many aunts and uncles, and her sister, Diann Holland.

She is survived by her husband, Val Wilson Vaughan; son, Vance Wesley Vaughan and wife Cathie of Allen, Texas; and by her daughter, Jennifer Vaughan Blalock and husband Jon of Hewitt, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Vance Wesley Vaughan, Jr., Brooke Cameron Vaughan, Blake Edward Vaughan of Allen, Texas, and Savannah Joy Vaughan of Hewitt, Texas. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

Pallbearers will be Ken Willis, Jon Blalock, William Standfield, Woody Rogers, Wallace Shank and Marc Laird.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to care givers Brittany Simmons, Sherry Jefferson, and to Providence Hospice for their loving care.
