Obituary for Joe Rito Olvera III

Joe Rito Olvera III, age 61, of Waco, passed away Wednesday January 27th, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at Oak Crest Funeral home Friday January 29th; viewing from 11am to 1pm, prayer services from 1pm to 2pm with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Joe was born September 27th, 1954, in Waco, TX to Gloria and Joe Olvera, Jr. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching wrestling, the Texas Longhorns, and Minnesota Vikings. He was married to the love of his life, Christine, for 44 years. He also had a love for cars, especially low riders. He was known jokingly, by family, as Sanford and Son because of his large collection of cars, coins, and football memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Gloria Olvera and son,Joe Olvera IV.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Olvera; his father, Joe R. Olvera, Jr.; his children: Deanna Carreon and husband, Juan; Joe Olvera IV and wife, Deanna; Josh Olvera and wife, Kayla; Johnny Gonzales and wife, Jessica; Gabriel Dominquez and wife, Joann; Joe Serrato and wife, Erica; Greg Serrato and wife, Priscilla; Joseph Olvera from Austin, Texas. Siblings include Angie Perez and husband, Larry; Gene Olvera and wife, Lydia; Josie De Los Santos; Mario Olvera and wife, Josie; Paul Olvera and wife, Irene; Gloria Tanner and husband Brad; and Secilio Olvera. Joe will also be greatly missed by his 23 grandchildren, 1 great- grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews for his valiant character and sense of humor.

We would also like to thank the Baylor Scott and White Hospice team for their sincere efforts in caring for Joe during his last days.
