Obituary for Gladys Flora Orr

Gladys Flora Orr passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in a Waco hospital at the age of 86.
According to her wishes she was cremated and a memorial service to honor her life was held at 10 am. Wednesday, October 12, at the McGregor Cemetery in McGregor, Texas.

Gladys was born on November 26, 1929 in Kyle, Hays County, Texas, the daughter of the late Adelia Neuse and Allie Grant. Gladys was raised by her aunt and uncle, Gus and Zoe Grant, in Kyle, Texas.

She was a secretary at an insurance agency when her kids were growing up. After she came to the Central Texas area, she was a Jailer and Deputy Sheriff for the McLennan County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in McGregor. She also was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Waco. She was a member at College Avenue Baptist Church.

On July 7, 1994, she married W. E. (Buck) Orr of McGregor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck Orr, on July 9, 2008.

Survivors include daughter, Linda Dawson and husband, Glenn of Kentucky; son, Danny Blume and wife, Theresa of Wisconsin, family and friends.
