Shelley Burkett passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Visitation will be 6 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 21 with a service to follow at 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at a later date.

Shelley was born September 8, 1961 in Waco, TX to John and Carol Humphries. She graduated from Midway High School in 1980. After graduation she attended McLennan Community College and completed an associates degree in finance. She went to work for Central National Bank and never left. She loved her bank family and 31 years later she was vice president of loan operations.

Shelley was the ultimate wild woman cowgirl with a big smile and a heart of gold. She was fiercely loyal and loved to compete. In high school she played doubles tennis winning many school and City of Waco tournaments as well as qualifying for state. Later she competed in team roping attending events around the country and gathered another roping family who loved her dearly. She also volunteered each year as an ambassador at the HOT Rodeo.

She was a huge fan of Chi-fil-a and ate lunch there almost daily.

Survivors include her boy friend, Paul Lovejoy; mother, Carol Humphries; father, John Humphries; step-mom, Jeannie Humphries; brother, John Humphries, Jr.; sisters, Brenda Harris and Andrea Humphries; nephew, Colby Humphries; ex-husband, Bucky Burkett and many other relatives and friends.
