Obituary for Lucy Doan

Alma Lucille (Lucy) Doan passed away on Saturday, August 19,2017. Lucy was 91 years old and lived a rich and full life of joy and love.

Services will be held on Monday August 28 at 11 am at the Lake Shore Church of Christ with Mr. Ernie Christie officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday August 27 from 3 to 5 pm, at Oak Crest Funeral Home. Interment will be held on Tuesday August 29 at 9:30 am at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Lucy was born on November 30, 1925 in Olney, Texas to George and Clyde Gray. She graduated from Olney High School in 1943. She met her husband, Curtis Doan, in Olney. Lucy was 18 years and 8 days old when they married on December 8th 1943 in Archer City Texas. Lucy and Curt spent 70 years together with a constant love and care for each other and family, cornerstones of their amazing lives.

Lucy and Curt were long time members of the Lake Shore Church of Christ. Lucy loved worshipping at Lake Shore until her failing health limited attendance.

Lucy is survived by her son Dale Doan and Wife, Mary Nell of San Antonio Texas; Daughter in-law, Carol Doan of San Antonio Texas. Grand children: Michael Doan and wife Sandy of Waco Texas; Jason Doan and wife Carla of Miami Florida, Chris of Austin Texas, and Carrie of San Antonio Texas. Eight Great grandchildren: Nicholas, Leandra, C.J, Mikey, Sydny, Brianna, Tyler and Caleb; Three great-great Grandchildren: Brayden, Isabella, and Natalie; and many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families. Also surviving Lucy is Sister in-law and Brother in-law Billie and Curley Gatlin of Brentwood Tennessee.


Lucy was preceded in death by her parents. The Love of her life, Curt; Son Charles Doan; Brothers: Olan, JC, Loyd, Kiddo, and Tuffy; Sister Irene.

The Family wishes to express their appreciation to Brookdale Assisted living staff and Mr. Anthony White and his family and caring members of the Lake Shore Church of Christ family.

Honorary Pallbearers: Nick, Cj, Sydny ,Caleb, Brianna, Tyler, Brent, Brayden, Nichelle, Isabella, and Natalie.
