Obituary for Allen C. Schornack

Allen C. Schornack, 73, peacefully passed away in the company of his loving family on Friday, November 10, 2017.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father John Guzaldo as celebrant. Burial will be at White Rock Cemetery. Deacon Greg George will lead the rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard followed by visitation with the family.

Allen was born May 10, 1944 in Brenham, Texas. He moved to Yoakum, Texas and had many great friends and memories there. He loved being a Yoakum Bulldog. He later moved to Austin where he played in a band and fell in love with “the blues.”

One of his passions was playing the guitar and he did it very well. He played at places like Antoine’s as well as his last time on stage at Gruene Hall. Allen made Waco his home in 1967.

In 1969, he met the love of his life, Jane O’Malley. He always referred to Jane as "his gal," and always wanted to know where she was and what she was doing. Allen and Jane married later in 1969 and began their 48-year journey together. They had three wonderful children: Tina Carroll, Michael Schornack and Robert Schornack.

Allen had a successful career as a wholesale tire salesmen and helping Jane run Miss Jane’s Preschool for 23 years. His crowning achievement was being a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.

Allen never missed a dance recital or a ballgame. He coached little league and traveled all over the state to watch his kids play. Allen loved being a fan and watching all sports. He also loved his Friday nights with family at Casa de Castillo and enjoyed his Mexican food. Wearing many hats, Allen was known as Bubba, Big Al, Mr. Allen, and by his loving grandchildren as Grampy. Allen adopted many, as he loved his son's friends like his own.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, Brandon; his mother, Helen; and sisters, Gayle and Susan.

Allen is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Tina Carroll and husband, Nick, Michael Schornack and wife, Jenny, and Robert Schornack and wife, Ashley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Gracie, Newt, Katie Claire, Carson Jane, Maggie, Haylee, and Will.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Duron, Joe Casper, Brandon Holmes, Jonathan O’Malley, James O’Malley, and Trey Poer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lance Poer, Bill Poer, Amos Ayala, Ronnie Coats and Gary Smith.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Reicher Catholic High School to The Schornack Family Scholarship.
