Obituary for Mildred Phillips

Mildred Lynell Phillips, age 76, of Waco, Texas, made her transition on November 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and pet “Sarge”.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., December 8, at OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco, Texas. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., December 9, at Pleasant Olive MBC, 1600 League St. Waco, TX., the Rev. E. Shaun Williams, Officiant.

Mildred was born in Bryan, Texas, on February 11, 1941, to late Rev. L. E. Ross and Armatha (Mooring) Ross. She graduated from E. A. Kemp Senior High School in 1959 in Bryan, Texas and earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Business Education from Prairie View A & M University, Prairie View, Texas.

She was employed as an educator at Blackshear Senior High School for three years, Hearne, Texas, Midway ISD Transportation for 10 years. She was also employed as a Data Processor with the Federal Government in Panama Canal Zone and was later employed by the V.A. Regional Office and Hospital Waco, Darnell Army Hospital Fort Hood, Texas, and lastly the Social Security Administration for 28 years Waco, Texas.
Mildred leaves to cherish her precious memories husband, Minister Isaiah Phillips who she affectionately called “Ike”; daughter, Dr. Chandai K. Phillips-Willis (Carlton) of Houston; mother, Armatha Ross of Houston; two sisters, Virginia Ross Ford of Dallas and Marilyn Ross Samuel (Don) of Houston; two brothers-in-law, John Phillips, Bryan and Robert Phillips (Josephine) of Houston; and many dear relatives and friends.
