Obituary for Daniel Mary

May 4, 1977 – January 10, 2018

It is with overwhelming sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Daniel Mary, 40, as he was lovingly surrounded by his family on January 10, 2018.

Forever blessed by his love, are his adoring wife and soulmate of 17 years, Natalie Mary (Love Eternal), his amazing parents Richard and Dianna Wallace, his beautiful siblings and best friends Shawna Roscom and Adam Mary, sister-in-law Kayla Mary and their beautiful son whom is his namesake, Luke Daniel Mary, his in-laws, Sharon, James, and David Ducote. He was the firstborn grandson of PawPaw and MawMaw Jackson (Dewitt and Verna) of Louisiana. He will be missed by his extended family and friends.

Born in Shreveport, LA, his family moved to Kingwood, TX as a boy and then to Waco, TX during his teenage years. He graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Psychology. Daniel’s ability of logic and desire to find the truth about himself, introspectively, as well as others led him to work with children at Devereux where he helped many turn their lives around. He then worked at Interface EAP where he started as a case manager helping connect clients with much needed services and then worked his way up to Vice President. He will be greatly missed by his coworkers.

Dan enjoyed his kittens (Dobby, Sylvia, and Shelly), Star Wars (and the principles of the way of the light and dark), sci-fi movies and series, writing, reading, comedy, gaming (both video and board games), SCUBA diving, hunting in Snyder, TX with our Earl, time with our “lake family” and swimming in the healing waters of Canyon Lake, TX.

His brilliant mind, integrity, intelligence, communication, amazing voice, and ability to make people laugh with his impersonations and wit will be greatly missed.

His diagnosis was a shock to us all and he endured the different treatments stoically. Dan and I truly believe the high dose vitamin C treatment helped extend Dan’s life after the traditional medical treatments were stopped, so we sincerely appreciate all who contributed to make that happen for us.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Houston Hospice, especially Rebekah, for their devotion, compassion, and dedication to seeing to Daniel’s comfort and the love they showed to us.

Thank you to all our family and friends throughout Dan’s journey and for your continued support and prayers. We love you. We know that Daniel will be smiling down at you with a counter point or clarification as he continues his journey. We look forward to the day that we shall meet again.

Daniel’s family welcomes his friends to join celebrating his life during a memorial service and gathering at OakCrest funeral home in Waco, TX at 2 p.m. on January 27, 2018. OakCrest Funeral Home: 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, TX 76710 www.oakcrestwaco.com
