Jan. 2, 1928 - Feb. 21, 2018

Gabrielle Claire Smith, age 90, of Waco, Texas, passed away on February 21, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 23, with the Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at OakCrest Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 24, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park.

Gabrielle was born in January 2, 1928, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Camille and André Bouillet, the fourth of seven children. She earned her nursing degree from St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal. After graduation, she immigrated to the United States where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Smith. They resided in Pasadena, Texas where they raised their family of four boys. She worked as a school nurse for Pasadena ISD until her retirement. They moved to Waco, Texas in 1994. After Charles' death in 2000, she remained involved as a volunteer in Daughters of Charity, Caritas, Providence Hospital Auxiliary, as well as various activities at St. Jerome Catholic Church. She was an avid knitter, an accomplished seamstress, and known for her delicious homemade pies.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Smith and wife, Emily, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael Smith and wife, Linda, of Waco, Texas, Timothy Smith and wife, Julie, of Dallas, Texas, and Mark Smith and wife, Jennifer, of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Denise of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
