Obituary for Jonnie Carlyle Slaubaugh

Jonnie Carlyle Slaubaugh, 49, graduated to eternal life from his home on Sunday evening, December 9, 2018. Services will be held at the Family Worship Center, 2501 Trice Avenue, Waco, TX 76707, on Friday, December 14, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.,

Jonnie was born in Costa Rica on May 22, 1969. He became an orphan at 9 years of age when his birth mother passed away. He was adopted by Howard and Karen Slaubaugh of Wolford, North Dakota in September 1978. He grew up in ND and graduated from Wolford High School and went on to attend Lake Region Community College where he obtained a certificate in auto mechanics.

When he moved to Texas in 2002, he joined the congregation at Church on the Rock, Waco and became intentional in pursuing Jesus Christ. He eventually transitioned to Family Worship Center as his home church where he humbly served in many aspects. Jonnie took initiative to help, often without being asked. Some of the areas in which he served were: an usher, assisted in children’s church, distribution of Angel Food, Wednesday night meals and faithfully attended home groups. Many times, Jonnie ministered by using his auto mechanic skills to solve vehicle issues people encounter.

Jonnie loved animals, he enjoyed riding horses and taking care of his dog. His passion for riding his motorcycle was obvious year-round. Throughout his career, he worked as an auto mechanic and warehouse/manufacturing associate at several locations in Waco.

Jonnie is preceded in death by his parents: Karen Ann Troyer Slaubaugh, 2002, and Howard James Slaubaugh, 2014.

Jonnie is survived by his siblings: Joel & Shannon Slaubaugh, West, Texas; Carl Slaubaugh, Waco, Texas; Joy & Brett Walker, Trinity, Texas; Kay Johnson, Rugby, North Dakota; Beth & Sam Key, Oglesby, Texas; Karen & Robert Arnold, Piedmont, Missouri, as well as many nieces and nephews.
