Obituary for John Al Barnes

John Al Barnes passed away suddenly at home in Waco, Texas, on December 31, 2018.
Born September 26, 1950, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Johnson Barnes and Joanne Crawford Barnes.

John graduated from Richfield High School, in the Class of 1969. He received his Associate Degree in Radiology from MCC in Waco. He was the Radiology Technician for Lakeland Medical Associates in Athens, TX until he retired at the age of 62 and moved back to Waco.

John is survived by his life partner, Deborah Staas, and his four daughters, Holly Adelle Conger and husband Cody, Caroline Ashley Barnes and fiancé George; Kelly Alison McKinzie and husband Demetrick, and Mallory Alissa Caraveau and husband Steve; his sister, Dorothy Ann Barnes Young; niece, Elizabeth Joanne Perkins and husband Scott.

John is also survived by 14 beloved grandsons and granddaughters and three grand nieces.

Locally John was an exceptionally accomplished bowler and had many friends throughout his Waco public school year who remember him as a “great guy and friend to many.” His classmates were looking forward to seeing him at their upcoming 50th reunion.

John was a sweet, good man with a big heart. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, extended family, and his beloved dog, Cookie.

A private memorial service was held by for family members.
