I met Melvin in Colorado about 3 and half years ago. We became instant friends. We talked regularly. When he was taking a break from driving he got in my truck for what was supposed to be a 3 day trip. Once my delivery was made my dispatcher informed me that we didn’t have anything going back to Texas. Poor Melvin had only brought one change of clothes with him so every time we stopped to shower, he had to do laundry first. He spent almost 3 weeks in my truck. During that time we went to Indiana, where I got to meet his beautiful daughter Ivy. He was so proud to get to spend time with her and her family. We had so much fun just riding and talking. We stopped in at my hometown where he met my family. Everyone loved him there. I will always treasure the time I got to spend with such a sweet friend.

Melvin had 3 daughters Ivy, Tabitha and Elizabeth. And 1 son Gary. Melvin had a heart of gold in his younger days. He was a cowboy, truck driver, (loved driving his girls around COWS). And he always had a Big Smile on is face no matter what was going on. Melvin will be missed by many family, friends and woman in is past. No matter what anyone says you will always be in our Hearts. R.I.P Old Friend, you will never be forgotten.

My condolences to the Laxon families. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of dear Melvin. Some Bible scriptures that have helped me during times of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which states in part: "Your dead ones will live...They will rise up". And the Bible also says "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will forever reside upon it". Therefore the Bible promises that we may be reunited with our loved ones lost in death by means of an earthly resurrection. This is further confirmed by John 5:28,29 which says "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". This is possible thanks to Jesus Christ's ransom sacrifice. Thus we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering.
