William Edward “Ed” Jefferson, 61, found rest in the Lord on March 25, 2019. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at Victorious Life Church, 7459 S. IH 35, Robinson. Visitation will be Friday, March 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco.

Ed was born to David Lee and Esther Marie Jefferson on October 3, 1957 in Petersburg, TX. He was well known for his work at Med-Tech, Grande Communications and H.E.B, from where he retired after extensive medical issues. He was a faithful member of VLC for over 20 years. Ed lived life full of love and laughter. He believed in investing time in others. He never met a stranger and was an avid sports fan. Ed loved spending hours reminiscing on his glory days of high school and college football.

Ed’s walk with God was seen and felt by anyone he came in contact with. Through countless hospitalizations and doctor’s appointments Ed’s faith in God never wavered and he used those times to minister to others.

Ed is preceded in death by his father, David Lee Jefferson; brother, Larry “Ace” Jefferson; and sister, Vivian Marie Jefferson.

Ed leaves behind his devoted wife, Jennifer; his loving children, Alicia, Rochelle, Gavin and Caitlyn; grandchildren, Dominick and Chloe; his mother, Esther Jefferson of Waco; siblings, Vic (Jean) Glasker of Waco, Emmett of Lubbock, Fred (Karla) of Lewisville, Mary (Robert) Borowiec of Temple, David of Waco and Monte (Curtis) Cook of Waco as well as many adoring nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Be A Voice Ministry.

My birthday is Oct 9, 1957 so Ed & I always had this thing of saying Happy Days it's our birthday's every year more so like during our high school years. Good memories & so many of them. When we received our high school rings he knew I had worked really hard at Willie's Cafe to pay for my ring. I couldn't afford the gold ring & I was kinda embarrassed by that but he always grabbed my hand and said it's just as pretty. He was so caring & a good person.

My deepest condolences to the family. Losing a loved one in death is one of the most difficult things to face. All suffering and death will soon be eliminated and we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones who have died. (Revelation 21:3,4; John 5:28,29; Isaiah 26:19) While on earth, Jesus demonstrated his God-given ability to bring Ed and others back to life. (John 11:11-44) May these scriptures bring some consolation until that time comes.

From Clayton Zachary,

'Catfish'....I'll never forget best friend in high school. I'm deeply saddened by your passing as I'm sure many are. My condolences to your family.
You & I had so many great memories that are only known to a few. To help my heart in this time of grieving I'd like to share a few of those times that mean so much to me. (By the way, to those of you who met Edward later in life, all of his friends from our years in school had nicknames for each other. My favorite one and the one most referred to was 'Catfish'...or 'Big-head Ed'... your fingers & hands were something to behold.)
Remember the morning in Mr. Phillips class when you repeatedly picked on me and I powdered your head with the erasers, ran down the hall with you right behind me, into Mr. Ross' office? You'd have strangled me to death if he hadn't been right behind us. The entire school was laughing their butts off. One of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life, your head completely chalk white from the neck up. Boy, were you ticked off. Or the time playing Hale Center when you ran to block the safety, stopped and turned around and I ran right into you. You messed up what would have been a 60 yard touchdown. Or the time you put the Spur kid in the hospital with a forearm across his back. He had 3 broken ribs & knocked out with a concussion. Boy was Coach Reager mad at you for that penalty. We all thought you'd killed the poor kid. Or all the many days & evenings we spent together at our house, eating & cutting up. There are so many, but the one I'll remember the most til the day I die is when I rolled my car and you were right behind me to pick me up, take me into town to tell Tommy Thompson, the local police officer and then took me home. I was so 'out of it', I argued with you for the 6 miles telling you we were going the wrong direction! Boy, that was a close one. I'm gonna miss you my Brother. Your life then & now, means so much to me. I love you. See you in the 'Ever-after'. My thanks to all of you, family, friends & co-workers for being a part of his life...No truer friend, brother or mate will you ever meet. I appreciate your indulgence while I remembered his life.
