Our dear mother's prayers and wishes were answered on Sunday, November 16, 2008. Agnes Ann "Mickey" Tierney is at last resting in the peace of Christ.
Behind she has left the three best parts of her earthly life as she so often recounted, her " three dark-haired beautiful daughters". In addition she left vivid memories of Irish laughter, spunk and song. Family visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Oakwood Cemetery with Deacon Greg George officiating. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation times.
Agnes "Mickey" McGuire Tierney was born in Frostburg, Maryland on July 12, 1920 to Patrick and Agnes (Arnold) McGuire. She married Peter (Nick) Tierney on April 6, 1942 when she began her 27 year adventure as an itinerant military wife and mother who lived in five states plus Germany and England.
She was a "stay at home" mother who taught us three daughters to play card games, jacks, croquette, badminton and to speak our minds freely. Mainly she taught us with her raucous humor not to take anything too seriously and to find beauty in simple things like flowers, sunsets, and hymns. She poetically composed this message for those of us who remain earthbound "You will all-ways hear my laughter, for it will always remain in your hearts".
Mom is preceded in death by her husband Peter (Nick) Tierney, her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Her three daughters and their families remain in Waco: Barbara Barron and Jack Chaneyworth; Pat and Eddie Arredondo; and Debbie Tierney and Mike Bukala. "Nanny" will be missed by her grandchildren: Amy Arredondo, Nick Arredondo, and Katie Bukala. Mom is survived by her sister and husband, Bill and Marguerite "Reet" Hughes of Frostburg, Maryland and several nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to all the faithful staff at Jeffrey Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center who extended their love to Mom through the good times and the bad. All surely know that Mom is content now and still raising an Irish ruckus somewhere.
