Rev. Albert E. Foster, 78, of Hewitt, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014. A Celebration Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, in the chapel of Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Wible officiating. A private burial in Oakwood Cemetery will precede the service. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Albert was born in Bude, Miss., to William E. and Lucretia (Herring) Foster. He moved to Walker, La., and graduated from Walker High School. He then moved to the Brazosport area of Texas, where he worked for Dow Chemical.
After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, Albert married Wanda Freeman on Aug. 3, 1963 in Lake Jackson, Tex. Albert received his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. For over 30 years, he pastored churches in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico before retiring to Waco in 2001. From 2006-2008, Albert served in the mission field in North Africa. He also served as a deacon at Highland Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Foster, Clinton Foster, and Clarence Foster; and sister, Elsie Duncan.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda Foster; two daughters, Jennifer Foster and Vanessa Servantes and husband Rafael; brothers, Billy Foster and wife Edith, Henry R. Foster and wife Elsie, and Bobby Foster and wife Janet; and a sister, Patsy Perkins and husband Edward; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board through Highland Baptist Church.
