Albert Gonzales, Sr., 59, went to join his Creator and his mother April 23, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Patriot Guard will escort the funeral to Oakwood Cemetery for burial with full military honors from the U.S. Marines. Visitation will start 6 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Albert was born in Waco November 25, 1952 to Mary Sustaita and Henry Gonzales. He graduated from University High School in 1971, and later received an Art Degree from MCC. He loved his country and proudly served in the US Marines during the Vietnam era. He participated in many local patriotic events. He was a member of The Waco Citizens for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Albert was very active in several Waco service organizations, including Sertoma, Optimists, Go Red for Women, Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Cen-Tex African American Chamber of Commerce, and Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. A very talented artist, he painted portraits, murals, and commissioned artwork. He married the love of his life, Juanita Munoz, on April 8, 1978 in Waco. They served as international wellness consultants and educators, and Albert was CEO of their business as Nikken Independent Consultants.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He gave God all the glory and appreciated all the blessings he received every day. He will live deeply in the hearts of his family and friends forever. His legacy will be remembered by all.

He is survived by his wife, Janie; two sons, Marshall Gonzales and wife Teresa of Hutto, Albert Gonzales, Jr. and wife Melanie of Houston; daughter, Maria Campbell and husband Jay of Hewitt; father, Henry Gonzales, Jr of Waco; three brothers, Henry Gonzales, III and wife Minnie of Waco, Mark Gonzales and wife Carol of Waco, Martin Gonzales and wife Diane of Arlington; two sisters, Helen Morales and Carol Salcedo, both of Waco; grandchildren, Amber Mabry, Haley Bryant, Aubrey Gonzales, Mia Stiles, Alisha Martinez, Aiden Gonzales, Ella Gonzales, Jimmie Braswell; two great grandchildren, Candace Mabry and Taylor Mabry; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; grandson, Joseph William Campbell; and great grandson, Alexander Lee Staples.
