Allen Sorrells

Allen Ray Sorrells, 81, of Waco, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his residence. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Allen was born January 3, 1929 in McLennan County to Alvin Dewey Sorrells, Sr. and Inez Couch Sorrells. He worked for many years at H&B Contractors in Waco before joining Smith Construction in Copperas Cove. He was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Allen Sorrells; his parents; and his brother, Kenneth Neil Sorrells.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Lisa A. Moreno of Waco; brother, A.D. Sorrells, Jr. of Waco; sisters, Evelyn Sorrells and Donna Porter and husband, James all of Valley Mills; granddaughter, Mattie A. Moreno of Chalk Bluff; great-granddaughter, Macie A. Moreno of Chalk Bluff; his uncle, James C. Sorrells and wife, Helen of Woodway; 3 nephews; and many cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Allen.
