Allie C. Blount

Dr. Allie C. Blount, 79, of Waco, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010 at a local nursing facility.
Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, with Pastor Elmer Smucker officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Grady Cemetery near Rotan.
Dr. Blount was born April 26, 1930 in Yuma, Ariz., to Julius (Jude) V. Blount and Lonie Craig, and served in the Army as a first lieutenant. He received his RN degree from the General Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. in 1952, and graduated from Baylor University in 1961. He later received his PhD in Education from Texas A&M University. During his career as a nursing educator, Dr. Blount taught at El Central College in Dallas and Howard College in Big Spring, and also helped start the nursing program at the McLennan Community College.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Underwood; and brothers, Robert J. Blount, Howard Blount, and Charles Blount.
He is survived by four sisters, Margaret Pitner of Oxnard, Cal., Juanita Williams of Santa Clarita, Cal., Viva M. Walker of Bracketville, Tex., and Nancy Davis of Flagstaff, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews.
