Alton Hooser

Alton Hooser, 89, of Robinson, passed away Friday, November 16, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Waco Memorial Park with Chaplain Rodney Kruse and Rev. Suzanna Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.
Alton was born as the only child to Alton and Lula (Elkins) Hooser on August 27, 1918 in Troy, Oklahoma. He grew up and attended school in Ardmore and Colbert. As a young boy he worked in his grandmother's store and during the night at the train station catching mailbags. He went to work for Consumer Oil Co. and was later transferred to Waco. Alton soon went into business for himself in 1947 and was a highly respected and trusted car dealer.
Alton married Billye Fae Daniels in 1945, and she preceded him in death in 1980. They had two children, Drew Hooser and Danielle Moore.
In 1984, he married Virginia Moore. Theirs was a marriage of true devotion and love. They spent many happy hours fishing, camping, and hunting together. Alton loved being outdoors at the lake, at the ranch, or in his garden. He was also active in the Shrine for many years in the parade staff unit. Alton was a devoted son, father, husband and friend and will forever be remembered in all our lives.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two children, son, Drew Hooser of Fort Worth and a daughter, Danielle Moore and husband, Eddie of Lorena; grandchildren, Candace Jaster of Waco, and Danette Wade and husband, Curt, of Lorena, and great-grandchildren, Kyla and Cooper Wade; step-children, Robert Moore and wife, Schatzee, of Waco, Richard Moore of Waco, and Becky Crockett and husband, Kenny, of Leander; and 11 step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Scott & White Hospice, Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, or charity of your choice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Bowers, Dick Clark and Earl Elkins.
The family especially thanks the loving caregivers from Scott & White Hospice and caregiver Lesa Washington.
