Anastacio Jesse Serrano

Anastacio Jesse Serrano, 74, of Lorena, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010, in a Waco hospital.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, at St. Louis Catholic Church by Msgr. Mark Deering. Burial with military honors from the U.S. Marines will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The rosary led by Deacon Bob Weher will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with the family. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.
Jesse Serrano was born in Waco, on Dec. 25, 1935 to Richard and Locadia (Galvan) Serrano. He married the love of his life, Isabel DeLeon Serrano on June 6, 1975.
Jesse was a charter member of the Waco Missions Club and President of the Waco Pan-American Golf Association for many years. He also served as National PAGA President. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He spearheaded the formation of the Knights of Columbus councils for both Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Francis Catholic Church. He was a Grand Knight, District Deputy, and a member of the 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus in Waco.
Jesse loved being involved in community and youth organizations, a former coach for H.O.T Soccer and baseball coach for Waco Little League. Through his hard work and dedication he positively impacted many young lives, including his son's. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He served in the United States Marines, and also the United States Marine Reserves from which he retired after 32 years of dedicated service.
He enjoyed listening to Tejano music, playing golf, watching Dallas Cowboys football games with his son Rod, spending time with his granddaughter's Sierra and Ariyana Serrano, and dancing and traveling to Louisiana with his wife Isabel. He was happy to celebrate his grandson Roman's first birthday and see him take his first steps.
Jesse had many great accomplishments in his life; the most important ones to him were that of husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sebastania and Alberta; and two brothers, Paul and Isidro.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Isabel Serrano; three sons, Rod Serrano and wife, Angelica of Waco, Ralph Jesse Serrano and wife, Carmen of Bastrop, and Isidro Serrano and wife, Ester of Hewitt; daughter, Gracie McLaughlin and husband, Thomas of Waco; sister, Natalia Serrano of Kansas City, Kansas; cousin, Lupe Alcontar of Iola, Kansas; grandchildren, Sierra, Ariyana, and Roman Serrano, plus 10 other grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the area Knights of Columbus groups, who will also serve as Honor Guards at the Rosary and Mass.
