Obituary
Andrew Mendoza, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 93 on Friday, February 9, 2007 at St. Catherine's Center after a brief illness.
Services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 11, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Armando Virgen officiating.
Andrew was born in San Benito, Texas to Paulino and Enedina Rios Mendoza and resided in Lorena, Texas. A determined and self made man, Andrew lived life to the fullest. One of Andrew's many loves was music. In addition to singing, he played the trumpet to the delight of many with the Moonlight Seranaders for several years.
Always the entrepreneur, Andrew owned and operated restaurants in Waco, Plainview and Lubbock. A devout Christian, Andrew also "fed the soul" for many individuals by spreading the word of the gospel and sharing his love of God with family, friends and strangers alike.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Roy Mendoza, Carlos Mendoza, and David Mendoza.
Andrew is survived by Ninfa Mendoza and by his children: sons, Andrew Mendoza, Jr. and wife, Rebecca; Armando Mendoza and wife, Sandy; daughters, Connie Garza and husband Larry, Elizabeth Rogers and husband, Michael, Beatrice Silva and husband, James, daughter-in-law Irma Mendoza; 14 grandchildren, Andrew Mendoza III, Robert Mendoza, Gilbert Mendoza, D'Lee Garza, Brad Garza, Briana Mendoza, Jeremiah Mendoza, Carrie Mendoza, Daniel Mendoza, Lauren Silva, Matthew Silva, Erica Silva, Vanessa Silva, and Gina Silva; 15 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Steve Mendoza and Paulino Mendoza.
Andrew will be fondly remembered in Lorena, Waco, Plainview, and Lubbock for his example of love, faith, kindness and good works. We will miss you, Dad.
