Angeline Birkes

Angeline Prnka Birkes, 84, of Waco, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at St. Catherine Center. The rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. Monday, April 2, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Father Joseph F. Geleney officiating. Visitation with her family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Angeline was born May 29, 1927 in West to Frank J. Prnka, Sr. and Marie Mensik Prnka. She married Robert L. Birkes August 21, 1948 in West. She worked for various businesses in Waco as a bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Angeline is survived by her husband, Robert L. Birkes of Waco; sons, Tom Birkes and wife, Kathy of Crawford and Dan Birkes of Waco; grandson, Brian Birkes of Waco; her sister, Genevieve Krueger of Malone; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Providence Health Center and Providence Hospice for their care of Angeline.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be directed to either the St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption Building Fund or to Providence Hospice.
