Anita was born on October 12, 1919 in Jalisco, Mexico to Jesus and Barbara (Monreal) Ortiz. She married the love of her life, Juan Martinez and they spent over 55 wonderful years together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Anita was a like a second mother to her younger siblings and loved and cared for her nieces and nephews like her own children. She was a very dedicated wife to Juan, her desire to help care for him kept her alive while being very ill herself.

A very giving and caring person, she always put others needs before her own. She was also very set in her ways, when she put her mind to something she did it.

Anita was a excellent seamstress and knitter. Anita was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she did a lot of volunteering. She took care of the vestals for the church, cleaned the church and worked closely with the nuns. Anita had many very close friends that she would form special bonds with. She was a strict but loving person that loved her God, family and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by two brothers, Romaldo Ortiz and Jesse Espinoza. She was a member of the Asociacion De Guadalupe of Waco, Texas.

Anita is survived by her husband, Juan Martinez of Waco; son, Jesse Martinez and wife Cristalyna of Cedar Hill; grandchildren, Benito Carrizales, Alicia, Juan and Joe Martinez of Cedar Hill; sisters, Socorro Lopez, Paula Ballesteros, Lupe Ortiz, Lucy Jimenez and husband Willie, Barbara Vasquez, Mary Lou Martinez and Esther Gateff and husband Eli of Springfield, VA; brother, Jesse Ortiz of Waco and numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Benito Carrizales, Leon Jimenez, B.J. Martinez, Thomas Lopez, Aurash Kamkar and Kyle Aleman.
