Anna Rogers

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Anna Beth Rogers joined her heavenly Father on April 8, 2007 after living a long, rewarding life of service and ministry. She was born on December 22, 1915 in Leonard, Texas to Roe Hickman McQuade and Vaughan Skinner McQuade.

She was born the same month that the first automobile rolled into her hometown. She always said her daddy was hoping for a new car but got her instead! What a blessing he received! She moved to Dallas as an infant and lived there until she left home for college. She attended SMU and later graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor in 1938. She was church secretary at First Baptist Church, Hillsboro when she met her husband and was later secretary at Highland Baptist Church in Dallas where she and George Ed Rogers were married on February 16, 1943.

Her husband served in the Navy and then attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He served many years as a music minister and Minister of Religious Education in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and Brownfield and Harlingen, Texas.

They moved to Waco in 1967 where they both taught in the LaVega Schools. Anna Beth retired from teaching in 1981 after the death of her husband. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she was actively involved in many organizations for a number of years.

She lived her life as an elegant and gracious lady always looking out for others, giving of her time and talents, and serving her Lord faithfully. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her. Her love for the Lord and her love for life itself were evident in everything she did. She disliked no one and loved everyone.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Propps of Houston; her daughter Martha Camp and husband, Barry; a son, Paul Rogers and wife, Beth; and a daughter, Donna Beth Norman and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Mark Camp and wife, Shannon, Natalie Bauman and husband Rene, Scott Rogers and wife Dori, Jenny Barham and husband Harvey, Michael Norman and wife Courtney, John Norman and wife Brandy, Michelle McCaig and husband Jeremy and Jennifer Norman; 13 great-grandchildren and a large host of loving friends and extended family.

She lived her life as an elegant and gracious lady always looking out for others, giving of her time and talents, and serving her Lord faithfully. In lieu of flowers, gifts should be made to the Gideon Bible Society at The Gideons International, P.O. Box 5037, Waco, Texas 76708 or to a ministry of your choice.

She will be buried at the Restland Cemetery in Dallas on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. A celebration of her life will be at Highland Baptist Church, 3014 Maple on Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall.

We want to thank Dr. Gary Barbin, the staff of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center 4th floor, Providence Hospice and the Regent Care Center for the care and kindness shown her during the final months of her life her on the earth. She will be greatly missed, but the legacy of her love for God, family, and friends will be evidenced in the family she left behind and the people she influenced every day of her life.
