Anthony Joseph (Tony) Nicosia, 68, of Eddy, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, followed by visitation with his family. The Knights of Columbus will provide an honor guard.
Tony was born in Waco to Ralph and Reva (Rodgers) Nicosia. He married Catherine Marie King on December 14, 1979 and they repeated their vows on January 12, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church. He graduated from McLennan Community College with an associate's degree, and worked 27 years for M. Lipsitz Co. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a beloved husband and father, and his family remained very important to him. He loved being Vinny's father. He liked to read, and he also studied the Bible and law. In his free time, he enjoyed playing chess.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; son, Vincent Nicosia of Waco; brothers, R. Timothy Nicosia of Wimberley, Michael E. Nicosia of Corpus Christi, and John C. Nicosia of Lorena; sister, Marie Nicosia; step-grandchildren, Stephan, Candyce, and Jennifer Haddock, and 8 step-grandchildren.
The family thanks Hillcrest Hospice, Crestview Nursing Home, and especially Dr. John Kasarek. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice.
