Apolonio Lopez

Al Lopez, 59, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Deacon Jesse Garza officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday, December 5, at OakCrest Funeral Home with visitation following until 7 p.m.

Al was born January 30, 1951 in Coolidge to Apolonio Lopez Sr. and Frances Pesina Lopez. He attended schools in Mart and graduated from La Vega High School in 1969. He later graduated from Texas State Technical College. Al was a local floral designer for many years. He also served on the City Council and as Mayor of Bellmead from March 1999 until May 2006.

He was a 3rd degree Knight with the St. Francis Council #10391 of the Knights of Columbus, a member of Santo Nombre and Sociedad Mutualista Mexicana de Jornaleros since 1970.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Al is survived by his Mother, Frances Pesina Lopez; brother, Joe L. Lopez of Waco; Sister, Janie Cuevas of Temple; half brother, Rodolfo Lopez of Dallas; half sister, Maria Jimenez of Dallas; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
