Arthur James Jewell, Jr. passed away peacefully Saturday, November 24, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Arthur was born in Waco to Minnie (Ford) and Arthur J Jewell, Sr. He proudly served in the US Navy for 2 years during the Korean War.
A.J. worked with his father for 70 years moving houses. He became the owner of their business “Jewell on the Job.”
A.J. was also a truck driver for Lowe Precast, Inc. for 20 years. He enjoyed working there saying, “You couldn’t find a nicer boss, Chuck and his wife Beth.”
A.J. was an avid Baylor Bears fan, never missing a game.
He was preceded in death by his son, A.J. Jewell, III; parents; sisters, Minnie Lee Franklin and Mary Catherine Baird.
A.J. is survived by his beloved son, Andy Jewell, Sr. and wife, Pam, of Waco; daughter, Linda Cruz and husband, Lupe, of Ft. Worth; son, Jay Jewell and wife, Amy, of Teague; daughter, Brenda Vaner and husband, Lindy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many close friends.
