Ashley was born June 21, 1972, in Waco, Texas where she attended Midway Elementary School, Central Texas Christian Academy, Waco Christian High School, and graduated from Baylor University.
Ashley loved theater and her favorite role was Brigitta in The Sound of Music. This was followed by radio commercials. At Central Texas Christian Academy she was a cheerleader. In her sophomore year at Waco Christian High School, Ashley was selected Homecoming Princess and named into the National Honor Society.
As a junior she served as class president, held membership in the National Honor Society and Key Club, and was chosen as Class Favorite. Both years, she was voted “Best Christian Example”. As a senior, Ashley served as Student Council Vice President and was elected Homecoming Queen. At Baylor, where her father worked for thirty years as a development officer, Ashley joined the Chi Omega Sorority. She and her friend Tessa were known for being “For Him” groupies, following the singing group all over Texas.
After graduation, she followed an entrepreneurial path, owning her own gift shop in Salado, Texas called Reigning Cats & Dogs. She was also a member of the McLennan County Republican Women’s Club.
Ashley was passionate about her beloved Baylor Bears, win or lose. Her dad had her running around the football practice field as a toddler. She always held fast to her conservative values and proudly expressed her non-vaxed status. Her dogs, both the labs and the Cavalier King Charles, were her “kids”. She valiantly overcame numerous obstacles throughout her life after surviving cancer as a teenager. When she made up her mind to overcome, she always followed that path.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles A. Jones; maternal grandparents, Winthrop and Martha Seley; and paternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Jones.
She is survived by her mother, Sara Seley Jones; uncle, Wayne Whitaker and wife, Emily; cousin, L. Hayes Fuller III and wife, Roseanne; and many extended family members, including numerous friends who loved her very much.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Ascension at Home, Compassus, and Visiting Angels for their loving care during this time. Ashley’s last days would never have been the same without the wonderful care of Brandi Fulton and Melissa Crosson.
