He was born in Stamford, Texas on August 22, 1932 to Aubrey Lee Tucker, Sr. and Argie Garrett Tucker. His family moved to Waco when he was in junior high. In 1949, Tommy graduated from Waco High School at the age of 16, attended UT Arlington at 17, and was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean War at 18 years of age.
On October 8, 1954 he married the love of his life, Katherine Matthys. To that union two children were born, Denise and Tim.
After his service in the Army, Tommy finished his business degree at Baylor University. He held many financial positions and was a real estate investor.
Tommy loved God, his family, and this country. He was a long-time member of First Evangelical Church.
His hobbies included football, dancing, poker, dominoes and one-liners. He and his wife were members of several dance clubs, supper clubs, and poker groups. Tommy’s favorite saying was, “I’m fine as long as I don’t look in the mirror”. Tommy passed away peacefully watching football on December 29, 2024. Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at OakCrest Funeral Home with the service at 3 pm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Kathy); parents; sister, Pat Webb; and stepsiblings, Shirley Guetzkow and Roger Yarbrough.
Survivors include his daughter, Denise; son, Tim and his wife, Ashley; grandchildren, Hanna and Heath; sister-in-law, Katharine Matthys; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
If desired, memorials may be sent to First Evangelical Church, Salvation Army-Waco, or Meals on Wheels-Waco. The family would like to thank Dr. Van Wehmeyer.
