Barbara Anderson

Barbara T. Anderson, 83, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, December 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco.

Barbara was born April 18, 1932 in Yonkers, NY to Cleophas and Matilda (Stanek) Gauthreaux. She was educated in Yonkers and later became involved in local politics in Stoney Point, NY. Barbara was a member of the League of Women’s Voters and ran for local office. She was also President of the Mother’s Club at the Immaculate Conception School. After moving to Waco, she worked for many years in the men’s department at Beall’s Department Store. Barbara loved music. She and her late husband, George, also enjoyed ballroom dancing, and were quite skilled at it. She loved to play Bingo, Dominoes and also Bunko.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Anderson; and sister, Carol Semenza.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Anderson of Pearl River, NY, George Anderson, Jr. of Webster, TX, William Anderson of Waco, and Jeanette Anderson of Waco; granddaughter, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Mychal of Dupont, WA; and great-granddaughter, Annabella Taylor, also of Dupont, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program at the First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs Dr., Waco.
