Barbara LeBar, 72, of Waco, passed away November 21, 2010 at a local care center. Private graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
Ms. LeBar was born October 13, 1938 in Batavia, New York to Melvin M. LeBar and Ethel Johnson LeBar. She graduated with honors from Olean High School in Olean, New York, winning a New York Regents Scholarship by competitive examination. She earned a B.A. in English and social science from Kansas State University and a M.A. in English from Western Michigan University.
Ms. LeBar was a long time teacher who began her career in the Washington School District of Kansas City, Kansas. She went on to teach English at Kellogg Community College, Lamar University and other colleges. She was the author of numerous professional articles and reviews and was also a practicing poet.
She retired from Texas State Technical State College in Waco and made her retirement home in Waco.
Memorials may be made to the McLennan County Library where Ms. LeBar was a devoted patron and supporter of the public library in all communities where she lived.
