Benny Carbajal, 63, of Waco, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Mighty Wind Worship Center, 1100 Washington Ave., with Pastor Joe Carbajal officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, July 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Benny was born April 13, 1945 to Trinidad Carbajal and Mercedes Gonzales Carbajal.

Benny worked for the City of Waco for 31 years and retired in 2000. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Uncle. He always put his family first! He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play, loved to Bar-b-que and being with his many friends.....and for all who knew him, Go Cowboys!

Benny is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Trinidad Carbajal and niece, Pauline Lopez.

He is survived by his wife, Sonia Carbajal; daughters, Olga Marie DeAnda and husband, Benito of Waco and Mary Linda Carbajal and companion, Emitt Gonzales of Waco; son, Marshall Carbajal and wife, Carmen of Dallas and Benny Carbajal, Jr. of Waco; step-son, Kevin J. Brown of Waco; brothers, Joe Carbajal and wife, Mary of Waco and Trinidad Carbajal and wife, Donna of Waco; sisters, Nancy Lopez and husband, Marshall of Waco, Mary Carbajal of Waco, Connie Pena and husband, Jesse of Waco and Juanita Pena of Waco; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; aunt, Juanita Fowler of Waco; mother of his children, Mary Quinonez; step-mother, Maria Carbajal; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends, Joe Penny and Harvey Williams.

Pallbearers will be Joe Penny, Bernard Munoz, John Pena, Jr., Benito G. Carbajal, Jr., Harvey "Sonny" Williams, Randy Carbajal, Emitt Gonzales and Marshall Lopez, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Maxie Martinez.
